events - 2008 / 2009 Main Competition Winners: This is a competition available to all teams registered in the league. Players can play for a higher team, but only with the permission of the handicap committee. For the 2008 / 2009 season the event was handicapped and played over one night at Warden Park on the evening of Wednesday 25th February. Teams consisted of two players and the event was played in groups with the top two teams proceeding to the main knockout competition and the remaining teams progressing to a consolation competition. With two competitors unable to turn up on the night the competition was run with fifteen pairs. The competition was initially played in groups with 3 groups having 4 pairs and 1 group having 3 pairs. Group one Ray 'n Gra (Ray Parker/Rory Scott) The Gangsters and Mine’s a Pint went through to the main competition knockout while The Bats and Ray n’ Gra played in the consolation knockout. Group two Cuckfield (Alan White/Paul Read) Burgess Hill Tigers and Bright Lights went through to the main competition knockout while Cuckfield and The Lawbreakers played in the consolation knockout. Group three Magiks (Tony Turk/Kevin Deacon) Hassocks Hitters and Incogniti went through to the main competition knockout while Magiks played in the consolation knockout. Group four Melbrew (Muriel Brewer/Mel Sims) Syncad and Melbrew went through to the main competition knockout while Batty Pair and The Cats played in the consolation knockout. Consolation knockout results Quarter final – The Cats beat The Bats Semi finals – The Cats beat Cuckfield Final - The Lawbreakers (Andy Steel/Samantha Monk) beat Main Competition knockout results Quarter final – Gangsters beat Melbrew Semi finals – Incogniti beat The Gangsters Final - Incogniti ( Pat Hosford/Toby Read) beat All four finalists from both the Main Competition and the Consolation knockout will receive trophies/medals at the Presentation Evening (23rd May 2009) Thanks to all of the players that took part on the evening and any comments on the Competition would be appreciated.
